Oscars 2011 Time Closes in at 8:30 PM

The Oscars 2011 time has finally come. Once the Oscars 2011 time officially arrives at 8:30 pm est, the most anticipated awards show of the year will unveil itself at last. Of course, although there's no question about when the show starts, a big subplot is when it will end. They've done well getting it finished before midnight lately, although there's always the risk of going longer. This is just one of the issues before the Oscars 2011 time, to say nothing of the awards and the host.

Movie fans and pundits have waited months for this day to arrive. However, the buildup for the big night, and the questions around the major categories, are usually more thrilling than the show itself. This year could be no different, especially if things are as predictable as expected.

Well before the Oscars 2011 time got close, most of the major categories were determined. Most of the audience expects a final coronation for Colin Firth, Natalie Portman, Christian Bale and David Fincher, among others. A month ago, they expected The Social Network to walk away with Best Picture, but now The King's Speech has become the inevitable best bet.

The only major races with suspense may be Best Supporting Actress, and Best Picture. Fittingly, Best Supporting Actress is among the night's first awards, although it'll be a three/three-and-a-half hour wait for Best Picture after that. In between, audiences hope not to be lulled to sleep.

But when the Oscars 2011 time comes around, the major questions will surround the hosts, and the show itself. Anne Hathaway and James Franco are a new kind of hosting duty, so viewers wonder what kind of routines they've been given. However, Deadline Hollywood warned that the schedule is likely to be another "snorefest" anyway.

If Hathaway and Franco can't elevate things, and balance out the lack of drama for the awards, it could be a rather long night. But much of the awards season has been predictable and obvious - even the comeback by The King's Speech. Therefore, a boring night to wrap it up would be fitting, albeit very unpopular.

Cricket: England make 196 for two in 30 overs against India in World Cup

Chasing an imposing 339 for a win, England were 196 for two wickets at the end of the first 30 of their allotted 50 overs against India in a crucial Group B World Cup match at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium here today.

Skipper Andrew Strauss (109) and Ian Bell (33) were at the crease.

Opener Kevin Pietersen made 31 before he was caught and bowled by Munaf Patel when England had made 68 in 9.3 overs. His 31, compiled off 22 balls, included five hits to the fence.

Jonathan Trott made only 16 off 19 balls before he was trapped leg before wicket by Harbhajan Singh when the England total was 111 off 33.2 overs.

Earlier, opener Sachin Tendulkar hit a superbly paced and constructed 120 as India, batting first, made 338 in 49.5 overs.

Left-handers Yuvraj Singh (58) and Gautam Gambhir made half-centuries, while opener Virender Sehwag contributed 35 and skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni pitched in with 31.

Dhoni won the toss and elected to bat first, and Tendulkar and Sehwag put on 46 for the first wicket in 7.5 overs.

Sehwag fell when he tried to guide a ball from pace bowler Tim Bresnan, that was outside the off-stump, through the vacant slips only to find wicket-keeper Matt Prior dived to his right and take a good one-handed catch.

Sehwag, who had starred in India's win over Bangladesh with a brilliant 175 in the tournament opener at Mirpur on February 19, scored 35 today off 26 balls with the help of six fours.

Tendular, rather tentative in the early stages and unable to find gaps in the tight England field, gradually came into his own and brought up the 50 of the innings with a brilliant flick to the fence front of square and then followed it up with an even more exquisite shot, this time to backward of square.

He seemed content to play the role of the anchor as Gambhir slowly opened out at the other end.

The left-hander cut a short one from Bresnan over backward point for four and then took two fours off Graeme Swann in the next over. He came down the wicket and lofted him over long-on first. Off the next ball, he tried to lift him over extra cover but got a thin inside edge tat Prior could not quite reach behind the wicket and the ball raced to the boundary for another four.

India moved into the 90s and then Tendulkar whacked one from Swann past the bowler's right for a four to bring up the 50 of the partnership off 54 balls.

The master blaster then lifted one from Paul Collingwood over the bowler's head for the first six of the match that also took India past 100.

A little later, the little master brought up his own 50 in style, picking up one from Collingwood early and lifting it high over the vacant mid-wicket region for his second six. The half-century came off 67 balls with the help of two sixes and three fours.

At the half-way mark of 25 overs, India were 140 for one, with Tendulkar battng on 57 and Gambhir on 43.

Tendulkar brought up the 150 of the innings with a six off Swann over long-on and then heaved him deep into the stands over mid-wicket off the next ball. That also brought up the 100 of the partnership between him and Gambhir. In the next over, he came up a late cut over gully for another four, this time off Ajmal Shahzad.

Clearly, Tendulkar looked unstoppable now as he hit Anderson for two successive fours, the first one a superb cover drive and the next one to square of the wicket. In the same over, Gambhir reached his half-century when a thick inside edge flew past the stumps to the fence. He had reached the mark off 59 balls with five fours.

In the next over, the 30th, Swann finally got Gambhir to come up with the much-needed breakthrough for England. The left-hander tried to turn one to third man, but the ball spun past him and knocked back his stumps. He had made 51 off 61 balls. India were 180 for two at that stage.

Things quietened down for a bit, with Swann sending down a maiden over to Yuvraj Singh in his next. In the next over, Tendulkar, now in his 90s despatched Yardy to the fine leg boundary. He took a single off Swan to take India to 200 and then whipped Bresnan to the fine leg fence to reach a superbly paced century and bring the crowd to its feet, roaring in approval. It was his fifth World Cup century, the most by any batsman, and the second against England. India were 206 for two after 35 overs.

At the other end, it was the Yuvraj Singh of yore as he picked up a low full toss from Swann and sent it over Collingwood at mid-wicket for four. In the same over, Tendulkar lifted the bowler over long-on for his fifth six.

The Indian batsmen now seemed to be toying with the England bowlers. Yuvraj pulled a short one from Bresnan for four and then Tendulkar pulled him past short fine leg for another four.

As Strauss rotated the bowling, Tendulkar hit Anderson for another four past short fine leg. But he finally left off the next ball, aiming one towards the leg but getting a leading edge to cover where Yardy took an easy catch. His 120 came off 115 balls and was studded with five sixes and 10 fours. India were 236 for three in 38.2 overs at that stage. At the end of 40 overs, the hosts were on 247 for three.

The last ten overs saw the Indians trying to put up the maximum runs on the board and lost quick wickets in the process. Yusuf Pathan could make just 14 while Kohli managed only 8. Harbhajan Singh (0), Zaheer Khan (4) and Piyush Chawla (2) were those who got out, while Munaf Patel remained unbeaten without scoring.

For England, Tim Bresnan took five for 48, while James Anderson, Graeme Swann and Michael Yardy took one apiece. Two of the Indians, Khan and Chawla, were run out.

India favourites to win World Cup: Dhoni's father

DEHRADUN: Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni's father Paan Singh on Sunday said that his son's team are the favourites to win the ongoing World Cup.

"I am confident that Mahendra Singh Dhoni's team will win the World Cup and make the country proud," Paan Singh told reporters in Almora on Saturday evening as he and his wife Devaki Dhoni reached to attend the wedding of their nephew at Lwali village.

Dhanpat Singh Dhoni, brother of Pan Singh, lives in their native place at Lwali in Almora district.

Ind 238, India vs England World Cup 2011 live cricket score highlights

Ind 238, India vs England World Cup 2011 live cricket score highlights. Tailenders failed, otherwise score would have been in excess of 350 runs

Bangalore: Indian cricket team came up with a scintillating batting performance. The good show started from the word go when Sehwag went on fire beating bowlers one by one. Then came Gambhir who took the mantle from him and played a good shots.

But it was little master Sachin Tendulkar who was at his destructive best, first making sure that he was well settled and knew the nerves of the bowlers and then went on to play a memorable inning of 120 runs, his second hundred against England in the World Cup.

He showed all the bowlers their place and hit them four and sixes with disdain. He hit five huge sixes and ten fours and after facing 115 runs he scored 120 runs.

Yuvraj and Gambhir too hit half centuries and they scored 58 and 51 runs respectively.

Meanwhile English bowlers bowled very poor line and length Anderson in his nine overs gave 82 runs while yardy gave 64 run and took one wicket.

Bresnan was the best performer with the ball today taking five wickets and gave away as little as 48 runs.

India meanwhile was all out for 338 runs in its 50 over quota.

India is the favorite as it will be aiming to regain the title once more time. The last time India had won the trophy was in 1983. Since then India had been trying hard to win the trophy but with no success. It is understood that this time India has a good team with combination of youth and experience. India landed at the World Cup on positive notes by beating co-hosts Bangladesh by 87 runs. The opener in Dhaka was a treat to watch. Swashbuckling Virender Sehwag was at the centre of attraction. He managed to score a scintillating hundred. The top order fired well with Virat Kohli also making life difficult for Bangladeshi bowlers.

Master-blaster Sachin Tendulkar looked in excellent touch. Now as the match readies to unfold on Sunday all eyes will be on Tendulkar. Besides, Irfan Pathan is also at the centre of attraction. Fans still remember his terrific century in South Africa when he single handedly managed to maul SA. This time also a lot is being expected from him.

Former Indian cricketer Ravi Shastri said: "Victory against England will make it two-out-of-two and we would be almost certain to make it to the quarterfinals. You can play freely. So the next match is very important to get a win on the board."

World Cup: Two held in betting racket

BANGALORE: A betting racket in connection with the India-England World Cup tie on Sunday was busted and two persons arrested, a top police official said.

Eight other bookies, however, managed to escape. The accused, Dinesh Kumar (36) and Vadivelu (34), were arrested by the City Crime Branch special squad during a raid in Jayanagar area on Saturday, police commissioner Shankar Bidari said in a release on Sunday.

An amount of Rs two lakh was seized from Dinesh Kumar who had collected the money from punters.

In addition to this, eight mobile phones, an LCD TV, one paper sheet containing details of persons and amount involved in the betting were also seized, the release said.

It said Dinesh Kumar also disclosed the names of other bookies who escaped. They are Narahari, Soni Mukesh, Harish, Bachan, Lokesha, Seebu, Tiger and Akkipet Babu.

Kumar was also in touch with bookies from Mumbai and Delhi and used to transact with them. Investigation has revealed that the accused were in the cricket betting racket for the last 10 years, the release said.

India vs England: Going down memory lane

The very first game of the World Cup was played between India and England, back in 1975 at Lord's. Since then, this rivalry has grown into a fascinating duel, with India enjoying a upper hand in recent times. We look at four games between the two sides that are worth remembering for years to come..

When Freddie took off his shirt...

The teams went into the final game with India leading 3-2. This match, at the Wankhede in Mumbai, provided the fitting climax as England eked out a thrilling five-run win to draw the series 3-3. England made 255 based on opener Marcus Trescothick's 95. They looked like making much more at 153-2, but collapsed, with Harbhajan Singh picking up a five-for. Sourav Ganguly (80) led India's chase, but Andrew Flintoff (3-380 won it for England. To rub salt into India's wounds, Flintoff took off his shirt and ran around the ground with his teammates in jubilation.

Feb 3, 2002 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai

Brief scores: England 255 in 49.1 overs (M Trescothick 95, N Hussain 41, A Flintoff 40; Harbhajan 5-43) beat India 250 in 49.5 overs (S Ganguly 80; A Flintoff 3-38) by five runs.

When Aleem Dar did India in

It was the decider of the NatWest series, which had gone right down to the wire at 3-3 till that point. At Lord's, however, everything went wrong for India. England, expectedly, prepared a fast and bouncy wicket and bowled out India for 187. The game, unfortunately, was spoiled by Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar's folly in judging Sachin Tendulkar out caught behind off Flintoff when television replays showed that the ball had brushed the batsman's shoulder.

Sept 8, 2007 at Lord's

Brief Scores: India 187 in 47.3 overs (MS Dhoni 50; A Flintoff 3-45, A Mascarenhas 3-23) lost to England 188-3 in 36.2 overs (K Pietersen 71 not out, P Collingwood 64).

The Lord at Lord's

It was probably the second most impactful win for India after the 1983 World Cup triumph. The Natwest tri-series final looked like England's for the taking after Nasser Hussain & Co made 325 for five. With the top order in the hut, all hope looked lost at 146-5, before Yuvraj Singh and Mohammad Kaif scripted a sensational turnaround with a 121-run partnership. The most abiding memory though was Sourav Ganguly twirling his shirt on the Lord's balcony.

July 13, 2002 at Lord's

Brief scores: England 325-5 in 50 overs (M Trescothick 109, N Hussain 115; Z Khan 3-62) lost to India 326-8 in 49.3 overs (M Kaif 87, Yuvraj 69, S Ganguly 60, V Sehwag 45) by two wickets.

The Nehra sixer

In a must-win game for India, Ashish Nehra produced perhaps the best-ever spell delivered by an Indian fast bowler. Playing with a badly damaged knee, Nehra ran through the English batting line-up on a seaming Durban pitch. In between, the charged up pacer had a banana and threw up instantly! The other thing worth remembering from this game is Sachin Tendulkar's pulled six off seamer Andy Caddick.

Date: February 26, 2003

Venue: Durban

Brief scores: India 250-9 in 50 overs (R Dravid 62, S Tendulkar 50, Yuvraj 42; A Caddick 3-69) beat England 168 in 45.3 overs (A Flintoff 64; A Nehra 6-23) by 82 runs.

Eng v Ind 11th ODI ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Live Streaming

Watch India vs England (Eng vs Ind) ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 11th ODI Group B at Bangalore Live Streaming Match and Live Scores online with online betting tips. Today’s Hot favorite team will be India with 77.3% chance to win whereas England 22.7% to win the match.

However India have to be considered heavy favorites to beat England cricket team here. While the Indians can entertain very real chances of winning the entire competition, the way England are playing, that would seem nothing more than a fantasy. England were poor coming into the World Cup, and basically scraping home against the Netherlands in the first match here is not going to scare anyone. India look ominously good when beating Bangladesh, hitting 370/4 and its this kind of hitting that will be the deciding factor. India will be far too good, England look short in every way, and that includes confidence. It may not be a battering but it should be comprehensive, and the Indians will win and make it two from two, leaving England to look forward to what should be a straightforward win over Ireland.

India vs England: Tendulkar's blistering ton takes India to 338

BANGALORE: Sachin Tendulkar smashed a record fifth World Cup century with a breath-taking display of strokeplay as India rattled up an imposing 338 all out in their group-B league match against England on Sunday.

Scorecard

The 37-year-old Tendulkar (120) slammed his fifth World Cup century, the highest by any cricketer in the megaevent, to provide the sparks in a scintillating Indian batting display at the jam-packed Chinnaswamy stadium.

Apart from Tendulkar's 47th ODI century, Gautam Gambhir (51), Yuvraj Singh (58) and Virender Sehwag (35) were the other notable scorers as the Indians virtually tore the English batting attack to shreds to leave the visitors with a stiff asking rate of 6.78. It was India's highest World Cup total against England.

Pacer Tim Bresnan was the pick of the England bowlers with 5/48 but none of the other bowlers could make much of an impression.

It was vintage stuff by Tendulkar as he unleashed 10 boundaries and five sixes in his 115-ball 120 to lay the platform for the Indian onslaught.

Tendulkar's milestone moment came in the 35th over when he glanced Tin Bresnan to the boundary to record his fifth World Cup century, surpassing former India captain Sourav Ganguly, current Australia captain Ricky Ponting and his former teammate Mark Waugh who had four hundreds to their credit.

Electing to bat first, the Indian innings began on a tentative note but the runs started flowing once the batsmen came to terms with the pace and bounce of the Chinnaswamy track.

Opener Virender Sehwag had a reprieve in the very first ball of the innings as Graeme Swann dropped a difficult chance in the second slip off James Anderson.

The dashing opener tried to push Anderson's outgoing delivery and got a thick edge but Swann could not latch on to the sharp chance.

Sehwag had two more close shaves in an eventful first over as he struggled to time the ball well. But he began to look a little more comfortable against paceman Ajmal Shahzad as he spanked him to the boundary in his first ball.

Sehwag attacked Anderson by smashing him to the point boundary while Tendulkar also tried to force the pace of scoring by going for his strokes.

Although the ball was not coming on to the bat quickly enough in the initial stages, Sehwag played with customary flourish and picked up Anderson for special treatment by clobbering him for 11 runs in one over.

But his belligerence was shortlived as he perished in the very next over with pacer Tim Bresnan accounting for his scalp in his very first over.

Bresnan provided some width and Sehwag tried to steer the ball through the vacant slips but only succeeded in edging the ball to wicket-keeper Matt Prior. His whirlwind knock of 35 came off 26 balls and contained six boundaries.

With Sehwag's departure, Tendulkar took upon himself the responsibility of scoring briskly as he hammered Anderson for two consecutive boundaries.

The left-handed Gautam Gambhir, who joined the action after Sehwag's fall, also made his intentions clear as he used his feet to smash spinner Graeme Swann to the boundary in his first over. But in that same over, Gambhir was lucky to survive a stumping chance.

Tendulkar brought about India's 100 on the board in style by lifting Paul Collingwood for a huge six over long off. He notched up his 94th ODI half century with another six, Collingwood being the bowler again.

With the two Indian batsmen going great guns, England captain Andrew Straus brought back his main spinner Swann into the attack and Tendulkar greeted him with two consecutive sixes much to the delight of the capacity crowd.

Tendulkar lifted Swann's first ball for a six over wide long-on with intense power and then clobbered the next ball over mid wicket.

While Tendulkar went on the offensive, Gambhir fetched his 22nd ODI half century with a streaky boundary to the third man region.

But Gambhir (51) perished in the very next over being bowled by Swann as he lazily tried to steer a turning ball towards third man only to see his stumps being knocked down, bringing an end to the rollicking 134-run partnership.

Tendulkar then created history by becoming the first cricketer to score five centuries in the World Cup when he glanced Bresnan to the fine leg boundary.

After completing the milestone, Tendulkar unleashed a flurry of strokes and again picked up Swann for special treatment by clobbering him for a mighty six over long-on.

It was Anderson who brought an end to Tendulkar's rampaging knock as the champion batsman played his shot a touch too early and Michael Yardy took the catch at cover. His scintillating 115-ball 120 contained 10 boundaries and five sixes.

Yuvraj notched up his 46th ODI half century by hitting Anderson to the boundary as he combined with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni to maintain the run flow.

Yuvraj and Dhoni returned to the pavilion in quick succession as they tried to force the pace of scoring in the slog overs.

India vs. England match: Sehwag departs after quickfire cameo

Today’s World Cup match features the tie between India and England at Bangaluru’s Chinnaswami stadium. And the match, that has drawn crowds in thousands, is turning out to be an engaging affair.

Winning the toss, India have elected to bat first and there was thrill written all over right from the first ball which saw Sehwag edging one for a boundary. Virender Sehwag played dangerously with quite a few aerial shots.

He started off tentatively in the first over which saw him edging the ball three times. However, lady luck favoured him and he survived the James Anderson over. He then went on to bludgeon the ball on all corners of the park.

While Sachin Tendulkar started off cautiously, Sehwag was playing in a marauding fashion striking 6 thumping boundaries. His 35 came off 26 balls but after the quickfire cameo, he perished giving out a catch behind the stumps in a Tim Bresnan delivery.

Gautam Gambhir, who came next, hit some good-looking shots to try rebuild the innings with Tendulkar. The current score card reads 111/1 in 20 overs with Tendulkar on 43 and Gambhir on 30.

India vs England: Sachin Tendulkar hits 47th ton

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar scored his 47th ODI hundred and 5th in World Cup. He hit Bresnan to fine-leg for four to complete hundred. India was 210/1.

English pacer Tim Bresnan provided first break through to England as he dismissed Sehwag for 35 runs.

Indian skipper won the toss and elected to bat first against England in the Group B match of World Cup here at M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on Sunday.

Dhoni has been playing with two seamers, two spinners and one part-timer in this match.

For England, injured Stuart Broad has been rested and Ajmal Shahzad is in. Ravi Bopara has paved way for spinner Michael Yardy.

India vs England: Match Preview

One of the key battles of World Cup is being slated to be played between India and England.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni-led Team India has been playing brilliant cricket for the last couple of years. Whereas England is one of the favourites team for this World Cup.

Both the teams have good players but spinners will be the key for victory here at bounce and turning track of Bangalore.

After World Cup Opener against Bangladesh, India has done plenty of net practice and team is looking to keep the momentum go against England.

It is expected that India will play with the two spinners. India will go with the theory of two seamers and two spinners

As it is one of the crucial games of league stage, both the teams will play with full strength. England skipper has already made it clear that they will rely on their pace attack. English pacers have decided to test Indian batsmen with short pitch and bouncing deliveries.

Pitch report: The pitch will produce turn and bounce for spinners but it would be better to bat first as dew factor is negligible in Banglaore.

Today’s match is being touted as the biggest game of the ICC World Cup 2011 till now. Both the teams are girding up for this big clash. Though the momentum is with India after they convincingly won their opening match against Dhaka, but England too cannot be written off.

It is a different team as it is coming fresh from defeating Australia in the Ashes. But many point out towards the fact that its performance in the ODI series was not up to mark.

Keeping all this in mind it looks that India has an upper hand. But it is too early to jump to any conclusion because England would be striving hard to win this trophy for the first time. This time they are pulling all stops to take on India on their home soil.

Equipped with better bowling, building and batting they are ready to give India a stiff competition. England seam bowler Stuart Broad and others in the team are aware of the India’s potential. It would be a difficult task to floor India on its home ground that too when hundreds of thousands of fans will be rooting for their star performers.

Broad said: “We are aware of India's strength on their home ground. We are practicing hard to bowl and field much better than in the previous match against the Netherlands at Nagpur the other day (Tuesday).”

Fans are waiting for the thriller match to unroll.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 India versus England

Bangalore: India and England, two of the top favorite teams, would face each other in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on a sweet Sunday.

While India would be on song with home support, England seems to be the most balanced team at the moment.

The two teams are meeting in the world cup after a gap of eight years while their last meeing in an ODI was held on 26th Novemebr, 2008.

India had easily surpassed the target of 274 runs losing just four wickets with 38 balls remaining.

Again in the world cup's last meeting on 26th February 2003 India emerged as victorious by 82 runs.

So, England may be reminded of these last results and they must be raring to change the course.

In their first match both India and England beat their opponents with rather ease but they faced considerable resistance too. Canada scored 292 against England batting first while Bangladesh scored 283 chasing the target of set 371 runs by India.

When the match starts at 2:30 P.M. Indian Standard Time, all these analysis would be put behind and the toss winning team would like to put a big score on the board particularly if England bats first.

England may not have a very explosive opening pair like Sachin and Sehwag but they have a more disciplined batting line up, at least on paper. Kevin Pietersen did well against with Andrew Strauss in his new role of opener putting a century partnership. Other batsmen too chipped in with valuable contributions.

Apart from Sehwag and Sachin India have another pair of destruction batsmen in the form of Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli. Yuvraj Singh may be considered a weak link but then the Englishmen would have to face MS Dhoni and Yousuf Pthan.

England can take respite in a disciplined bowling Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad and James Anderson. Added to that would be the spin venom of Grame Swann. It would be real test for Swann against the explosive battery of attacking batsmen.

Munaf Patel has done well in the last match against Bangladesh taking four wickets but Zaheer Khan and Harbhajan Singh are still to find the penetration needed to dent into the solid batting line up of England. Ashish Nehra is also expected to play if declared fully fit.

More than 20 million watch Americans India vs England have multiple ICC cricket world cup 2011 Social Security numbers online (SSNs) associated score with their highlights name in commercial records according to a new study announced in December from ID Analytics, Inc. The study found that rather than serving as a unique identifier, more than 40 million SSNs are associated with multiple people.

6.1 percent of Americans have at least two SSNs associated with their name. More than 100,000 Americans have five or more SSNs associated with their name.

Dr. Stephen Coggeshall, chief technology officer, at ID Analytics said. “Most of these cases of duplication are likely due to simple data entry errors as opposed to deliberate falsification. Nevertheless, organizations expose themselves and their customers to risk if they solely rely on the SSN to verify an individual.”

ID Analytics analyzed 290 million Social Security numbers, and found that 1 in 7 are associated with more than one name. Anywhere from 3-4 million names are directly used to commit fraud.

MSNBC reported the same study showed 140,000 SSNs are connected to 5 or more people and 27,000 SSNs are connected to 10 or more people.

Some of these secondary SSNs are the result of typos where an administrator may incorrectly enter a digit and then that secondary SSN is now connected to a person’s credit going forward.

In other cases it is deliberate fraud. When the same person is shown using multiple Social Security numbers on purpose then a flag is raised.

Consumers often find out their SSN is compromised as a result of being denied credit or when bill collectors call them for non payment.

India vs England: Watch out for these clashes

Yuvraj vs Broad

Yuvraj created an unforgettable moment when he smashed Stuart Broad for six sixes in an over during the inaugural World Twenty20 in the West Indies in September 2007. Four years later, as the two meet again on a big stage, things have changed drastically. Yuvraj isn't the same batsman anymore, at least in terms of form, while Broad is now a much improved bowler.

Harbhajan vs Collingwood

India's biggest ace in this match should be Harbhajan Singh. On a wicket that should help spinners, the Turbanator will be a major source of worry for Andrew Strauss & Co. It will require someone to play him with a sensible head, and the one man who could do this, is Paul Collingwood.

Sehwag vs Anderson

The batsman England would fear the most is Virender Sehwag. With the new ball, England would depend on James Anderson somehow get rid of Sehwag. Anderson, hugely effective on wickets that aid swing, would have to devise a way to avoid Sehwag's burgeoning blade. If he does get Viru early, Anderson will be the toast of his teammates.

India vs England: Sachin Tendulkar hits fifty

Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar scored his 15th World Cup fifty in style. He hit Collingwood over the midwicket for six to reach the fifty. India was 141/1.

Teams:

Ind: Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel

Eng: Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen, Jonathan Trott, Ian Bell, Paul Collingwood, Matt Prior, Michael Yardy, Tim Bresnan, Graem Swann, Ajmla Shahzad, James Anderson

Preview India vs England game

For any Indian who watches India-England games, the first thing that comes to a person’s mind when an India –England  clash is announced is Sourav Ganguly waving his shirt in the Lords balcony in celebration of winning NatWest 2002.Well over the years  both England and India have gone through several changes. Both the teams are on an all time high. England has just recently won the ashes down under and India also has the best battling line up that it has ever produced. Could we ever imagine that our batting line up would be so strong that players like Suresh Raina would have to sit on the bench. Well you can definitely say India has major home advantage. In the last 13 clashes that England has played against India in India they have managed to win only one game.

India:

On their clash against Bangladesh India showed how they can demolish any bowling attack. Virender Sehwag   as said kept his word and batted an entire fifty overs and made 175.Virat Kohli was also at his lethal best as he thrashed the bangladehi bowling. Gautam Gambhir and Sachin Tendulkar also looked in top form. As India put up a mammoth total of 370 runs without  the batting display on Yusuf  Pathan, Dhoni and yuvi. Well the batting combination for India will remain the same and no changes are expected in the side. The bowling of India was definitely not up to the mark. Sreesanth was  smashed all over the park by the Bangladeshis. He is definitely going to sit out in todays game. It is most likely that India  will be playing two spinners against England as Englands batsmen face difficulty is playing  spin. Harbhajhan will  definitely be the first choice and the second spinner should mostly be Chawla. India will be playing to two seamers. It should be Zaheer Khan and  Munaf Patel. Although Ashish Nehra is  totally fit it is more likely that Munaf will be playing because he has performed extremely well in the last game he took 4 wickets giving away only 48 runs.Well overall  India look like a very strong side.

England:

Englands  campaign got off to a very apathetic start. With the Dutch running them a lot closer than anyone expected. The English batting saved the day as Andrew strauss got his  team home. But facing Zaheer Khan will involve getting much more application into their game.Englands   entire post-Ashes form, in fact, has been of some concern with the heavy 6-1 loss to Australia preceding their World Cup.However England has been a very consistent team with the victory of the T20 world cup and the Ashes we cannot write them off. England’s playing eleven will be of much interest. With conditions pointing to the inclusion of an extra spinner to partner Graeme Swann, England may opt to go in with Michael Yardy over Ravi Bopara. Bopara is the better batsman of the two, but Yardy provides the slow-bowling option that the team could be looking for. The batting has a new look with Pietersen opening, but his elevation was not a success against Netherlands, and England will need a big score from him upfront in this crucial match.

India definitely go in as favorites but as Pakistan showed against Sri Lanka, even the home advantage and the strength on paper are far from guarantees when two strong sides meet.

India vs England Carnival at Chinnaswamy stadium

BANGALORE: "I love India . headbands, blue t-shirts to match the Indian team's colours, placards warning of explosive batting by Indians and roars of "India will win" - it was carnival time at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here Sunday ahead of the India-England cricket World Cup clash.

The day-night match at the stadium is only the second for both the teams in the 2011 World Cup , that too in the league round.

But the atmosphere around the stadium hours ahead of the match, which starts at 2.30 p.m., was as good as the two teams playing for the cup itself.

The enthusiasm and excitement of schoolchildren, youth, middle-aged men and women standing in the queues for hours to get into the stadium only grew as the clock moved towards the start of the match.

The early morning worry caused by cloudy weather disappeared as the sun beat down towards noon and hope rose that met prediction of 60 percent chances of rain towards evening or night would remain only a forecast.

Trying to match the Indians fervour was a group of English fans.

Many of them got their cheeks painted in the colours of their national flag, and were confident that their team will beat India.

Unlike Thursday, when ticket sales ended in chaos with police caning the milling crowd to control it, it was all order Sunday as police had advised those with tickets to come early to avoid the last minute rush.

Though the gates to the stadium opened at 10.30 a.m. -- a full four hours before the start of the match -- scores had begun forming queues from 8 a.m. itself!

Police had advised the fans to come early as they would be allowed entry after an elaborate security drill of physical frisking and mobile checking.

Over 7,000 police personnel with sniffer dog squads were on duty at the stadium for security. The stadium was also guarded overnight by over 100 police personnel.

ICC World Cup 2011: Ticketing Fiascos and Lathi-Charges

Cricket fans across India are left aghast and appalled by the CWC ticketing fiasco that culminated in a lathi-charge on eager fans at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on the 24th of February, 2011.

Over 30,000 fans queued up to snap up 7,000 tickets for the India-England tie scheduled for Sunday, February 27.

The crowd grew restless and impatient when passes began to be issued around 8:30 a.m. The police resorted to crowd control tactics resulting in several people injured and carried away in stretchers.

The latest ticketing disaster follows the inability of the ICC’s online ticketing partner Kyazoonga.com to anticipate the surge in traffic when it put passes up for sale. Their servers crashed on several occasions.

The ICC seems to have anticipated the controversy.

David Becker, the ICC’s legal head, in a missive to ICC president Sharad Pawar, recommended that 4,000 passes to the final be allocated to associated cricket fans and not at the box office because of the chaos and violence that could ensue.

Becker seems to have made the right call.

Some of the complaints about the issue of passes include poor coordination between multiple state associations and the ticketing partners. Spectators who have bought tickets months earlier have yet to receive them in physical form. Online partners are unaware of the number of passes to be put up for sale.Since printing of tickets falls to the individual state associations, it is the sponsors and commercial partners who are at their mercy.

Sharad Pawar will have to take the rap for this. The ICC is concerned. Its commercial partners are baying for blood, if not passes.

Former India fast bowler and current  Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) secretary appeared distinctly uncomfortable responding to questions from the media as to how matters had quickly gotten out of hand.

“There is a limit to how much we can fulfil people’s expectations," Srinath said. "It is a big challenge but even our hands are tied. For a match of this stature, even if you double or triple the amount of tickets for the public, it won’t be enough. That’s the tradition in India and we expected this mad rush."

Mr. Javagal Srinath, if you expected this mad rush, surely you could have done something about it. A lottery system would have been a viable option.

When asked what was more challenging, his on-field career or his present one, Srinath said,"I think bowling at the dirt track was the easiest."

In a verdict that could have far-reaching consequences, the Delhi High Court directed the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA) to limit the number of complimentary passes for each of the four World Cup games to be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium to 10,000.

The remaining tickets are to be made available to members of the general public.

The case was filed by Jai Karan Singh, one of the DDCA’s oldest members, who argued that the executive committee issued whimsical free passes foregoing much needed  revenue when it was operating at a loss.

The court also decreed that 3,000 passes were to be made available on match-days to cricket lovers.

Feroz Shah Kotla stadium has a capacity of 41,000.

World Cup loses to IPL in TV viewership

The 10th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup kicked off with a bang, with the opening match between India and Bangladesh drawing nearly 39 million viewers across the country yesterday. But, the figures are about 80 per cent less in some cases, when compared with the opening match of Indian Premier League-3.

Official broadcaster ESPN STAR Sports (ESS) saw 18.8 million viewers tuning in across its three channels, ESPN, STAR Cricket and STAR Sports. Another 20 million viewers watched the match live on Doordarshan, the public sector broadcaster which is free to air.

According to data available with aMap, an overnight television audience measurement agency, ESS recorded ratings of 2.12 points in cable and satellite (C&S) homes across the country. The ratings recorded for the inaugural match of IPL-3 played between Deccan Chargers and Kolkata Knight Riders, is 3.8 points.

IPL matches are, however, only available on SET Max (a pay channel), unlike the World Cup matches, some of which are being shown on DD.

From data for the six metros — Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad — the ratings peaked to 4 points for the World Cup match on Saturday.

The ratings are slightly lower than the peak ratings of 4.3 points recorded in the metros during the opening match of IPL-3.

Moreover, the number of viewers recorded is significantly higher than the viewership for the Commonwealth Games hosted in Delhi in October last year, when cumulative numbers for the event over the first three days had been 33 million. Even the response to the World Cup T20 held in West India in April-May 2010 had been lukewarm, hooking on a mere 5.1 million viewers on the opening day.

Viewership, however, remained strong across the country, with average time spent per viewer at a whopping 85 minutes. In metros, the time spent stood slightly higher, at 88 minutes.

As many as 49 matches are going to be played across India, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the 10th edition of the World Cup, which has returned to the subcontinent after a gap of 15 years. Matches that kicked off on February 19 would end with the final on April 2.

Set Max takes Rs 900 cr weather insurance cover for IPL 4

NEW DELHI: The broadcaster of the Indian Premier League, Multi Screen Media, today said it has taken an insurance cover against the possibility of bad weather disrupting matches during the fourth season of the T20 cricket league .

The total cover value is to the tune of the total revenues that Multi Screen Media (MSM) expects to make from this year's event, which is estimated at around Rs 900 crore.

"MSM has already taken insurance cover for weather for the IPL. The total cover value is to the tune of the total revenues that we are likely to make this year from the event," MSM CEO Manjit Singh said.

Asked how much revenue the firm is eying from this year's IPL, which will be played between April 8 and May 28, he said it will be about 20 per cent more than last year.

The firm's channel Set Max has been telecasting the IPL matches since inception and it reportedly garnered ad revenues of Rs 750 crore last year from the T20 league.

Based on this figure, the weather insurance cover that MSM has taken for this year's IPL is worth about Rs 900 crore. The cover is meant to recover losses if matches are washed out due to rain or not played due to other unfavourable weather conditions.

Singh, however, added that MSM has not claimed any weather insurance in the past.

Explaining the rationale for MSM's increased advertising revenue expectations this year, he said: "The number of total matches have gone up and even the ad rates per a second slot has also gone up."

While he did not elaborate on the ad rates, as per industry estimates, MSM is asking for about Rs 5 lakh per ten second spot for the IPL matches.

Singh said MSM will launch a mega-marketing campaign by the end of this month to promote IPL 4 and keep viewer interest alive in cricket after the ICC World Cup.

The IPL 4 will begin six days after the World Cup final on April 2.

"It will be marketed heavily on MSM properties and other media as well," he said.

IPL 2011: Katrina can’t play games

Mention Ranbir Kapoor, and now my dhobi Safedi Lal wants me to listen to an item on Katrina Kaif. Instead of giving me some sansanikhez information, he’s telling me that the lissome lass has opted out as the brand ambassador for Bangalore Royal Challengers.

images Reason: She will be too busy shooti
ng for Yashraj’s Mere Brother Ki Dulhan with Imran Khan in Agra while IPL Season 4 is on.

So, since Kat won’t be able to fly down to cheer for Vijay Mallya’s team, she feels there’s no point in continuing as ambassador.

Though Mallya’s team won’t be devoid of glamour for their matches, asserts my dhobi. He goes on to remark that Sidhartha Mallya will ensure that girlfriend Deepika Padukone puts in special appearances at some of their games. Hmmm.

IPL Kochi goes with Push Creatives

With back to back cricket action lined up, marketers, agencies and the teams are busy firming up their plans to make the most of the cricket season.

It is learnt that Push Creatives has bagged the creative duties of the newest team of the Indian Premier League – IPL Kochi. The business will be handled by the agency’s Bangalore and Kochi offices. The size of the business is pegged at around Rs 1 crore.

As part of the campaign, a promotional music video has been planned for IPL Kochi. The video will also be cut into 30 second and 45 second TVCs. There will also be print, OOH and other collaterals.

It is also learnt that Push Creatives is working on the concept of blending cricket with Kerala’s martial art form Kalaripayattu, which will be filmed by well-known film director Priyadarshan.

Elaborating on this, VA Shrikumar, Head of Push Creatives, said, “We recommended a creative branding platform where we use Kalaripayattu and its elements, especially its promise of ‘fight unto the finish’. Kalaripayattu is Kerala’s own martial art, which is world-famous and unique. It requires absolute control and immaculate perfection of body and mind. Also, the ‘Angam’, where the warriors used to fix the time and date to settle scores, had a ‘do or die’ brutality and simplicity to it.”

Push Creatives also handles the creative duties of Kalyan Jewellers and Manappuram Finance.

WC Preview: B'desh vs Ireland, Aus vs NZ Live Score Card

Where: Shere Bangla National Stadium, Mirpur, Bangladesh

When: Friday February 25, 14:30 local, 08:30 GMT, 19:30 AEDT, 21:30 NZDT

ODI Head to Head: Played: 6, Wins: Bangladesh 4, Ireland 2

Last meeting: : July 16, 2010 Ireland 9-189 (46 ov) lost to Bangladesh 4-191 (37.4 ov) by six wickets in Belfast

World Cup Head to Head: : Played: 1, Wins: Bangladesh: 0, Ireland 1

Selection Table: :
Likely Bangladesh team: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Shakib Al Hasan Mushfiqur Rahim, Raqibul Hasan, Mahmudullah, Suhrawadi Shuvo, Abdur Razzak, Shafiul Islam, Rubel Hossain

With part-time off spinner Naeem Islam being carted for 54 off his seven overs - and being dismissed for just two - in the opening match against India, Bangladesh coach Jamie Siddons could be tempted to replace him with Suhrawadi Shuvo. With his bowling attack giving up 370 runs in their 87-run loss to the Indians, Siddons will be hoping for a more controlled display.

Likely Ireland team: William Porterfield, Paul Stirling, Ed Joyce, Niall O'Brien, Andre Botha, Kevin O'Brien, Alex Cusack, Trent Johnston, Andrew White, George Dockrell, Boyd Rankin

Former England player Ed Joyce had made the number three spot his own in recent weeks, and adds some flair to the batting order while quick Boyd Rankin will provide an injection of much-needed pace into the Irish bowling stocks.

X-Factor: :
Bangladesh: Imrul Kayes - the 24-year-old opener is usually something of an anchor in the Bangladesh top order, but his quick fire 34 against India suggested he can be a potent attacking weapon.

Ireland: Boyd Rankin - The six foot eight inch Rankin's express pace and bounce have drawn comparisons with West Indian great Curtly Ambrose.

Summary: :
Bangladesh will be keen to put the insipid performance of their bowlers in their first-up loss to India out of their minds when they take on Ireland, who have been World Cup giant killers in recent years.
In 2007, the Irish defeated Pakistan to progress to the Super 8 stage of the tournament, where they then accounted for Bangladesh - so far the only World Cup meeting between the two nations.
Bangladesh are no strangers to the big stage themselves, having shocked India at the 2007 event in the Caribbean.
The Irish enjoyed a four-wicket win over Zimbabwe in their last lead-up game before the tournament - aided by a polished 79 from Andre Botha - and they will be hoping for more good touch from the South African-born all-rounder on Friday, who also claimed two wickets in the match.
But Bangladesh must head into the game as warm favourites in front of their home crowd, and will be disappointed with anything less than victory as they look to post their first win in the 2011 World Cup.

Australia v New Zealand - LIVE!

FOLLOW our over-by-over coverage of the group A World Cup pool match here.

4th over: New Zealand 1-21 (Guptill 0, Ryder 1) WICKET! Shaun Tait = drama. McCullum departs for 16. Tait starts with two extras (no-ball, wide) before McCullum hits two FOURS. The Kiwi continues his charge but gets a thick outside edge - all the way to David Hussey at deep third man. A review to check whether Tait had no-balled shows the delivery was legal.

3rd over: New Zealand 0-10 (Guptill 0, B McCullum 8) McCullum scurries a quick single early but Guptill still can't get off the mark. He's faced 10 balls.

2nd over: New Zealand 0-9 (Guptill 0, B McCullum 7) Tait starts with two wides before McCullum slashes him for a commanding FOUR over point. A full toss is driven for two and ensures a productive over for the Kiwis.

1st over: New Zealand 0-0 (Guptill 0, B McCullum 0) Lee opens with a maiden. Good line and length. The sun's out but there was a bit of movement in the air and off the wicket. One ball seemed to keep awfully low.

Australia vs New Zealand ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, Live Score Card

IN THE eight match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 between Australia and New Zealand at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in orange city Nagpur, Australian captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and decided to bowl first on a cloudy morning.
Yesterday in Nagpur, there was some rain which could have motivated Ponting to bowl first. However the wicket of VCA Nagpur is dry and there is little grass on the pitcy. However, the fast bowlers might get some assistance in the morning.

Australian captain Ricky Ponting has made no changes in his team from the last match against Zimbabwe. The Aussie team defeated Zimbabwe by 91 runs in their opening match at Motera, Ahmedabad on Monday.
New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori has made one change from the last match against Kenya. The Kiwis included Right-hand batsman Jamie How in place of all-rounder Jacob Oram in this very important match against Australia in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011. New Zealand won their first match against Kenya by 10 wickets in just eight overs.
In the last three ICC Cricket World Cups matches played between tthe wo countries, Australia has won on two occasions, whereas New Zealand won a match in 1999. In the 2007 World Cup in West Indies, the Aussie team defeated the Kiwis by a huge margin of 215 runs.
Here is the playing XI of South Africa and West Indies for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011:
Australia: Ricky Ponting (capt), Shane Watson, Brad Haddin (wk), Michael Clarke, David Hussey, Cameron White, Steve Smith, Mitchell Johnson, Brett Lee, Jason Krejza, Shaun Tait.
New Zealand: Daniel Vettori (capt), Brendon McCullum (wk), Martin Guptill, Jesse Ryder, Ross Taylor, James Franklin, Scott Styris, Jamie How, Nathan McCullum, Tim Southee, Hamish Bennett.

Cricket World Cup Match Preview: Bangladesh vs Ireland

abdur_razzakThis coming Friday, at the same ground where they went down against a rampant India, Bangladesh will take on a team that had risen above its own reputation in the last World Cup. Bangladesh, chastened by India in front of its home crowd, will not be the same force in the coming matches, and Ireland will think themselves more their equal than simply a nagging threat. If ever Ireland could feel like they had a chance to stamp themselves into the reckoning, as they did when they ousted Pakistan in the 2007 World Cup, it would be now, over the drained spirit of the Bangladeshis.

The wicket at the Sher-e-Bangla behaved irrationally in some ways in the India-Bangladesh encounter. When Virender Sehwag struck the first ball of the tournament for four, he was made to stand tall by the ball’s lifting trajectory off the pitch, but as the innings wore on, the bounce got slower and lower till Gautam Gambhir was bowled by a virtually soporific ball. Ireland’s lack of spinners is offset by their abundance of slow medium-pacers, who find their calling in stopping tracks where slowness, of the ball, begets more slowness, off the track.

Bangladesh:

It seemed as though Imrul Kayes and Tamim Iqbal had swapped bats in the last match. Tamim, usually the ever-ready biffer, poked and struggled in the beginning while Kayes took the attack to the bowlers. Kayes could not last too long, while Tamim took a useful lesson in biding one’s time to build an innings. No surprises in how he and Captain Shakib Al Hasan were the two stalwarts taking up the batting challenge. While Junaid Siddique was a mix of being loyal to the crease and keeping an eye upon the target, Mohammad Ashraful’s experience was sorely missed in the middle order. However, as his form has given him a paltry 62 runs over the last two seasons, he is not likely to be brought back.

If, on Saturday, the batsmen had not risen to save Bangladesh’s blushes, the insipid bowling performance earlier would have appeared magnified and demoralized the team further. When you see that Shakib, having gone at 6.10 runs per over and picked up one wicket, was one of the more economical bowlers, you get a sense of how innocuous the rest of the unit was. When your entire bowling quarry goes at over 7 runs an over, it’s hard to prune the weeds, but Suhrawadi Shuvo has done more as a spinner than Naeem Islam and he could be an option.

Ireland:

Ireland opener William Porterfield has been in sublime touch over the warm-ups played over the last couple of weeks, scoring two fifties. Ed Joyce, who played for England four years ago, has injected his professionalism into the no. 3 spot, and has been scoring freely over the last four games, with two 40s and a 50. All-rounder Andrew White, who has not been thrown the ball of late, has been giving handy contributions with the bat. Andre Botha was impressive against Zimbabwe, amongst the wickets as well as a scoring steadily.

Boyd Rankin, almost a secret weapon for the kind of wraps he has been put under over the past few games, will supply the pace otherwise lacking in the medium-pace-heavy Irish attack. Kevin O’ Brien can handle the new ball and is known to provide the breakthroughs. Trent Johnston and Alex Cusack have been steady, bowling nagging deliveries, and could trouble a Tamim, who would like the ball to come on to the bat. George Dockrell, Somerset’s pick for a slow left-armer, will provide for the Irish what Shakib and Abdur Razzak do for their team.

Form guide:

Bangladesh: LLWWW
Feb 19, 2011 - Lost to India by 87 runs
Feb 16, 2011 - Lost to Pakistan by 89 runs
Feb 13, 2011 - Defeated Canada by 9 wickets
Dec 12, 2010 - Defeated Zimbabwe by 6 wickets
Dec 6, 2010 - Defeated Zimbabwe by 65 runs

If Bangladesh’s experience of defeat has taught them anything, it is resilience. They will approach this match afresh and seek to win back some confidence before they meet the West Indies, who may or may not have had a good run as of March 4.

Ireland: WLLLW
Feb 15, 2011 Defeated Zimbabwe by 4 wickets
Feb 12, 2011 Lost to New Zealand by 32 runs
Feb 8, 2011 Lost to Kenya by 3 wickets
Feb 6, 2011 Lost to Zimbabwe by 6 wickets
Sep 30, 2010 Defeated Zimbabwe by 20 runs

Ireland stayed close on New Zealand’s heels as they attempted to chase down a massive 311 in Nagpur. They appear to be on the up, having gone on to force a win against the Zimbabweans in the next game, with some valuable contributions from the middle order.

Likely teams:

Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Shakib Al Hasan (c), Raqibul Hasan, Mahmudullah, Suhrawadi Shuvo, Abdur Razzak, Shafiul Islam, Rubel Hossain.

Ireland: William Porterfield (c), Paul Stirling, Ed Joyce, Niall O’Brien (wk), Andre Botha, Kevin O’Brien, Alex Cusack, Trent Johnston, Andrew White, George Dockrell, Boyd Rankin.

Players to watch:

Tamim Iqbal, against India, had to resort to playing an innings which went against his nature. Will the wobbly pace at which the Irish bowlers operate spur him on or cow him down?

Andre Botha has picked up 6 wickets in 4 warm-up games, kind of overhauling his haul of 5 wickets he got in the last World Cup (the aforementioned games being unofficial of course). He also top-scored against Zimbabwe in the only match Ireland won in the warm-ups. This South African-born player, not snapped up by England, can be expected to shine for Ireland on Friday.

Prediction:

Bangladesh at home can be fooled only by the best. So unless you boast a Sehwag in your team, you will have to play by their rules in their backyard. They will be hard to beat. But you never know with the Ireland team. They took one and all by surprise defeating Pakistan, and last week, ran a huge New Zealand total close. Although they have not had the most successful run into the tournament, with the Shamrocks, a rocky start is but a sham!

Cricket World Cup Live: Kohli slams fifty after Sehwag's ton

NEW DELHI: Virat Kohli hit his 13th half-century after Virender Sehwag's 14th century as India dominated the proceedings against Bangladesh in the 2011 World Cup opener at the Shere Bangla stadium.

ICC Cricket World Cup Live Scorecard

Kohli reached the milestone off 46 deliveries with the help of five fours.

Sehwag slammed nine fours and a big six in his 94-ball century.

Bangladesh spinner Mahmudullah clean bowled Gautam Gambhir (39) in the 24th over to break the dangerous looking second wicket partnership.

Sehwag and Gambhir continued India charge after losing Sachin Tendulkar to a freak run out and added 83-run partnership for the second wicket.

Gambhir slammed three fours in his 39-ball innings in the match.

Sehwag completed his 37th one-day fifty with a big six as he raced to half-century in just 45 balls.

A horrible mix-up with Sehwag ended Tendulkar's (28) stay on crease. Sachin was run out by Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan in the eleventh over. The master blaster hit four boundaries in his 29-ball innings.

Put in to bat first, India openers added run-a-ball 69 runs partnership at Shere Bangla National stadium.

The dashing openers took India's score to 50 in just 8.5 overs, when Tendulkar slammed his fourth boundary of the innings.

Earlier, Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan won the toss and decided to field against co-hosts India in the tournament-opener on Saturday.

Dhoni and his men are eager to settle the score after Bangladesh stunned them in 2007 and kick start their campaign on a positive note at the Shere Bangla National stadium.

Bangladesh, on the other hand, have so far been content with an odd upset and have been generally looked upon as underachievers but the tigers look to shrug off that tag when they lock horns with India at home.

Though they have just five victories from 20 World Cup matches to show, Bangladesh has the distinction of beating Pakistan on debut during the 1999 edition and ousting India and defeating South Africa four years ago.

Teams:

India: Mahendra Singh Dhoni (capt/wk), Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel, S Sreesanth.

Bangladesh: Shakib Al Hasan (C), Tamim Iqbal, Imrul Kayes, Junaid Siddique, Raqibul Hasan, Mushfiqur Rahim (wk), Naeem Islam, Mahmudullah, Abdur Razzak, Rubel Hossain, Shafiul Islam.

Umpires: Steve Davis (AUS) and Kumar Dharmasena (SRI)
TV umpire: Billy Doctrove (WIS)
Match referee: Ranjan Madugalle (SRI)

Pitch conditions: A hard wicket that is expected to help the slow bowlers in the later stages of the game. The team bowling second could find the ball difficult to grip if late evening dew arrives as predicted.

ICC Cricket World Cup Latest Update:

World Cup 2011: India vs Bangladesh

With an aim to payback the last World Cup's humiliating defeat, India (Ind) takes on Bangladesh (BAN) in the opening match of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 at Shere Bangla Stadium in Mirpur on Saturday.

Bangladesh won the toss and decided to put India to bat.

Virender Shawag and Sachin Tendulkar started as opening batsmen.

India is batting at 129 at the loss on one wicket at the end of 20th over.

Sachin Tendulkar was run out at 28.

Gautam Gambhir had come in place of Sachin.

Gambhir was sent packing by the spinner Mehmadullah at 39.

Virat Kohli is the next batsman from India.

India is meanwhile, playing at 160 for two at the end of 24th over.

Dhoni-led Team India will try to start the World Cup campaign on winning note against Bangladesh.

However, cricket pundits think of it as a cakewalk for India but Dhoni & Co. must keep in mind that Bangladesh had defeated ‘Men in Blue’ by five wickets at the 2007 World Cup at Port of Spain.

Bangladesh have played Good home series before the World Cup. They thrashed New Zeraland and Zimbabwe in the ODI series. Bangladesh will have an advantage of playing under the home condition.

On the other hand, India is the 2nd ranked team in the ICC ODI rankings and team is performing better under pressure situation.

After winning both the Warm-up games, the morale of Team India is at its peak but it will have to keep the nerve in particular game.

Middle order was big trouble for India but in the final warm-up game against New Zealand, middle order shown sign of returning in form. Gautam Gambhir, Suresh Raina and skipper MS Dhoni played good knock and scored freely.

Though there is a tough fight between Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh and Suresh Raina for the place in the playing XI.

Chances of Yuvraj singh are very bright as he is the only left-arm spinner in the side. But he is off colour with the bat. He scored just one run against Australia in the first warm-up game. Nevertheless, he was very effective with the ball in both games. In such circumstances, Raina will have to sit out and pave the way for Yuvraj Singh despite of scoring quickfire fifty in the final warm-up game.

If Yuvraj gets a berth in the final XI, he will have to play at No.6 or7 as Dhoni has indicated that he will play up in the order.

It will be interesting to see, India will play with two spinners and two seamers or not. The track is expected to be slower one and it will help spinners as game progresses. In this condition, Piyush Chawla is expected to support Harbhajan Singh in the spin department. It is obvious that India will play with four regular bowlers and rest of the overs will be completed by part-timers like Yuvraj Singh and Yusuf Pathan.

Most probably India’s playing XI will look like: Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh/Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni, Yusuf Pathan, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel/ Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan Singh, Piyush Chawla/ R Ashwin.

As far as Bangladesh is concerned, the made tremendous progress after the 2007 World Cup. They won three matches out of nine matches in the Caribbean World Cup. In the last four years Bangladesh has won 38 matches out of 88 and their winning percentage is 34.09.

Bangladesh is one of the youngest sides and it has average age of 25. In one word, a good encounter is expected when both the Asian countries will lock horn in a day/night encounter on February 19.

Pitch report:

Toss will once again play crucial role at Shere Bangla Stadium. It is expected that track will go slow in the second half. The team should bat first after winning the toss.

Statistics:

Overall, India and Bangladesh have played 23 ODIs. India managed to win 20 times while locals have tested the victory just twice, including famous victory in the 2007 World Cup while one match was abandoned. The winning percentage of India and Bangladesh are 90.9% and 9.09% respectively.

Players to watch:

India: Sehwag, Tendulkar, Kohli, Dhoni and Zaheer
Bangladesh: Tamim Iqbal, Shakib-al-Hassan, Abdur Razzak.
